Government associations provide advocacy, training, publications, research and other services for their members; offer a forum for discussion and problem-solving; enable members to speak with a single voice on local, regional, state or national policy; alert members to emerging social, economic and political trends; promote leadership; share innovations and best practices; provide management and technical assistance services; offer cost savings through aggregated purchases of insurance, energy or other resources; and provide other forms of support that meet the needs of their members.
