Weaving/Spinning Clubs
Taxonomy Code: PS-8200.0550-900
Programs that provide organized opportunities for individuals to pursue their interest in hand weaving or hand spinning, often through the medium of a club or society which is under the leadership of people who are knowledgeable in the subject. Activities may include lectures by people with hand weaving or spinning expertise; demonstrations of basic weaving or spinning techniques; and regular meetings at which members share information about current projects, enjoy the company of other weaving and spinning enthusiasts and have time to work on their projects. Some may also provide space for weaving/spinning activities, arrange for discounts on materials, sponsor exhibits or sales of woven art objects, clothing or other pieces of art created by members, publish a newsletter or provide access to a library of resources about the craft. Included are Internet-based virtual clubs, WebRings devoted to the subject and clubs where members meet face-to-face.
